Freshwater Bay Golf Club raises funds for Sporting Opportunities on the island
Freshwater Bay Golf Club have been raising funds over the last two years for Sporting Opportunities Isle of Wight.
They are an island-based charity who provide training and competition opportunities for island athletes with learning disabilities.
At their alternative new year party last Saturday club captain – Peter Bonnell and past captain – Richard Frost presented a cheque for £7,115 to the charity.
Charity organiser Claire Slade-Carter is pictured receiving the cheque from them with athletes George, Ross, Summer, and Sarah.
Claire gave a very moving speech explaining the profound difference that this amount will make to the charity.
The funds were raised thanks to the generosity of Freshwater Bay GC members through various special events such as the Charity Day in August and 100 holes of golf all played in a day by club stalwart and Iron-man Steve Orchard.
